Tootie and the Seven Stars follows a young girl who is learning how to understand the feelings she carries inside.
Tootie feels scared, embarrassed, left out, nervous, quiet, overwhelmed, and unsure of where she belongs. As she meets the Seven Stars, each one helps her understand what her body is feeling, put words to her emotions, and find the courage to talk about them. Along the way, Tootie begins to learn that her feelings are not wrong and that each one has something to teach her.
Lane wrote this story to help children feel seen and understood while giving parents a calm, reassuring way to talk with them about their emotions. Each chapter includes a Dear Grown-Up Moment with questions, affirmations, and simple practices that parents and children can share together.
Tootie and the Seven Stars can be read at bedtime, in classrooms, during counseling sessions, or anywhere children need help understanding what they feel, expressing themselves, and knowing they are heard.
