Vicki Riske, Author, Artist, Puppeteer, has been interested in puppetry and storytelling for many years. She writes and illustrates award winning children's books. She collaborates with Sonia Elizabeth Urrutia de Soto, creating dual language picture books. Currently they have produced four books, which they publish through We Are Puppeteers, LLC. Vicki and Sonia also create workshops on site, in schools, libraries, stores, churches, theaters, gardens, and city parks. They were keynote speakers at the 4th Annual Montana Family Childcare Conference in May 2026.
Sonia Elizabeth Soto, B.A., is a Bilingual Family Childcare Specialist with the Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) Program atUnited Way of Pinal County in Arizona. The FFN Program supports in-home childcare providers who care for children from birth to five, offering training, resources, and materials that help them create nurturing, engaging environments for young children. Sonia has known author and artist Vicki Riske for many years, and together they share a heartfelt passion for storytelling and celebrating the power of stories told in two languages. Both understand how meaningful it is for children and families to see themselves and their languages reflected in the books they read. Through her work and writing, Sonia continues to uplift families, educators, and young children, promoting connection, creativity, and the beauty of bilingual storytelling.
