Synopsis

A colorful and egg-citing voyage into biblical interpretation!

We have all heard the nursery rhyme about Humpty Dumpty. Humpty Dumpty was an egg, right? Maybe not. Although the familiar nursery rhyme never explicitly states that Humpty Dumpty is an egg, many continue to believe this interpretation because of its common portrayal. In a similar fashion, many accept popular interpretations of certain Bible stories, despite a lack of evidence in the biblical text. In The Humpty Dumpty Effect, Rev. Brandon M. Bowmar explores the background and evidence for these common depictions of biblical scenes and interpretations:

  • The apple in the garden of Eden. Was it an apple or some other fruit?
  • The devil as the serpent in the garden of Eden. Although the devil is never mentioned in the entire book of Genesis, many think of him as the serpent.
  • The relationship between David and Jonathan in First and Second Samuel.
  • The magi (or wise men) from Matthew chapter two. A lot of assumptions are held about the magi: how many there were, their names, ethnicities, etc.
  • The doctrine of the rapture.
This book is both academic and engaging—insightful, yet humorous. The Humpty Dumpty Effect guides readers through Scripture with the aim of reclaiming the true message of the Holy Bible. The details of God's Word must be heard anew, lest, like Humpty Dumpty, we fall and cannot be put back together again.

The Humpty Dumpty Effect contains a full manuscript along with many colorful images.
