On a summer evening in rural Missouri home, my son Dan, only 37 years old, passed away on our front porch from a drug overdose. Dan had struggled through many years of drug use. After a near fatal overdose almost 3 years prior, he was living sober sober with his sister and me.
Thrust into a tsunami of grief, writing has poured my trauma onto paper. Intensely emotional poetry and many sketches that Dan had drawn are within. Art was Dan's therapy. After the loss of my mother from cancer and the end of a 20-year abusive marriage, I revived my poetry writing to release my inner pain. Poetry has always been an outlet and I hope that you find comfort and connection as you take this journey through time with me. As Dan daily told his sister when she said "I love you".
I LOVE YOU MORE!
Beautiful words that we can all relate to woven with rhythm and rhyme. Lori writes straight from her heart to ours.
Best selling author, Becky Hemsley
As a mental health professional, I am recommending Ms. Deana's poetry. Her poetry is expressive and connects with the heart and soul of the reader. Once you begin reading the first poem, you will surely see the intense feelings, relatedness and release of emotions that are exhibited in these classic works of therapy for all who can relate in any manner!
