Geri True is the author of the Happy the Hedgehog(TM) picture book series, including Grownups Say the Strangest Things, illustrated by Karissa Bettendorf. She grew up on a small farm in rural Nebraska - the youngest child by nearly a decade, with parents who had earned their rest and no neighborhood kids to play with. With no screens to turn to, she turned to books instead, becoming such a devoted reader that she jokes about working her way through the World Book Encyclopedia when nothing else was available. That early hunger for language, story, and the sheer magic of words never left her. It followed her through a long and rewarding career as an interior designer, through raising her own children, and now finds its fullest expression in reading aloud to her grandchildren. With Happy the Hedgehog(TM), Geri has created a character born from exactly that spirit - a curious little soul who believes that words, even the most baffling ones, are worth exploring. She actively visits bookstores and libraries to share Happy's adventures with young readers and the grownups who love them.
