Synopsis

"Tri-la-la, tri-la-la. Tri-la, tri-la. Tri-la-la!" Pinky Winkle came singing to Earth in a golden globe of light and landed in the center of the mushroom village named Shady Grove.

"What bird is that waking me from Dreamland?" asked Grandfather Mushroom.

At the same time, in our world, a strange phenomenon occurred in the desert of Nevada. Radar detected and filmed round, opaque, yellow globes of light floating near the sand. Scientists could not explain their cause.

Why, of course, it was Pinky!

Follow along on a magical journey through Merry Green, a world where endangered animals and wise creatures from old, old stories live together in peace with one another and nature. As Pinky grows and works with new friends in a new home, he learns important lessons about kindness, honesty, and doing what is right.

A propos du livre

À propos des auteurs

Stephanie Means was raised in the South in the fifties by a storytelling father who changed the stories in an open book as she sat on his lap. He made up voices for all the characters. She began writing poetry in second grade. As a troubled youth, she found solace in the woods. Her first public appearance was one she called, A Community Poetry Event, on Skinner's Butte in Eugene, Oregon, as the full moon rose and the sun set. A community artist, Stephanie was, for ten years, one of the core "Radar Angels" a women's artistic and performing troupe from Eugene. She wrote That We May Live, a script performed and presented as a collaborative work of dance and poetry for endangered species, at public venues. These included Volunteer Park in Seattle, UOF college twice, and at churches and public middle schools. She led an interdisciplinary production on this theme in The American School in Belize, Central America, which ended the school year with a dance performance. She now devotes her life to writing and cooking... her passions. She lives in the northern Santa Cruz Mountains with her dog, Duncan.

Uriel is an artist, poet, medicine woman, sacred clown, storyteller, and teacher of many. She started writing poetry and drawing at the age of thirteen. She's always believed in magic everywhere and, to this day, loves to walk barefoot to connect more closely with Mother Earth. She enjoys teaching all ages the importance of connection to nature and the world. She believes curiosity affects everything around us through our own exploration. She also relishes teaching those with special needs and dementia how to create works of art.Uriel advocates for involvement in community and believes connection with others prevents isolation and loneliness. She has worked extensively with Native American youth, encouraging them to honor and respect their heritage and the connection to Mother Earth. She has a profound desire, through her storytelling, to help the upcoming generation become keepers of our Earth, caring for the greatest to the smallest creatures of this beautiful planet we all walk upon.

Georgia was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. Of full Mexican origin, she migrated to Oregon and lived in Eugene where she raised three children. She retired to Wolf Creek, Oregon, where she was curator of the local museum. She showed talent in art and poetry from an early age.
