What if Jesus wrote you a letter today?
Nearly two thousand years ago, the risen Christ dictated seven letters to seven real churches facing real pressures — compromise, persecution, spiritual drift, self-sufficiency, and the slow erosion of first love. Those letters were delivered along an ancient road in what is now modern Turkey.
They were written for those churches. But they were also written for you.
Letters from the Road is a 35-day devotional journey through the seven letters of Revelation chapters 2 and 3 — one of the most searingly honest, deeply personal, and ultimately hopeful sections of all Scripture. In each letter, Jesus begins with the same four words: I know your deeds. He sees exactly where each church is, what they are doing right, where they are falling short, and what He is calling them back to.
Chances are, you will recognize yourself in at least one of them.
Through seven sections of five devotionals each, Letters from the Road unpacks what Jesus said to:
Ephesus — the church that knew everything about truth and forgot how to love
Smyrna — the suffering church Jesus had nothing but encouragement for
Pergamum — the church that compromised to avoid hardship
Thyatira — the church that tolerated what it should have confronted
Sardis — the church with a reputation for being alive that was actually dead
Philadelphia — the weary little church with an open door no one could shut
Laodicea — the comfortable, self-sufficient church that had quietly shut Jesus out
Each devotional includes the Scripture text, a focused reflection, a closing question, and a prayer — designed to move you from reading to responding.
The road through the seven churches is not always comfortable. Jesus did not write these letters to make His people comfortable. He wrote them because He loves His church too much to leave it where it is.
He loves you too much to leave you where you are.
The same Jesus who walked among the seven golden lampstands is walking among His churches today — watching, knowing, calling, and promising. He is still speaking. The question is whether we have ears to hear.
Put on your walking shoes. The road is waiting.

About the Author
Dr. Chris Len McCormick is an associate pastor of Calvary Church in Maumee, Ohio. In thirty-five devotionals, Dr. Chris McCormick unpacks what Jesus commended, challenged, commanded, and promised each church, and shows how those same words carry startling relevance for the church, and for the individual believer, today. Each devotional closes with a reflection question and a prayer prompt, making this book equally suited for personal devotion time or group Bible study. Along the way, readers encounter churches celebrated for their faithfulness and churches corrected for compromise. One church, remarkably, receives no rebuke at all, only encouragement for enduring suffering with unwavering faith.
