A Michigan native, Chris Barclay attended Cranbrook School and Bates College. As an Asian Studies major, Chris studied Mandarin at Beijing Foreign Language Institute and ethnic conflict at the University of Peradenia in Kandy, Sri Lanka. He founded what would become one of China's largest corporate training enterprises in 1996 and later designed several ecotourism properties in China, including the multi award-winning Yangshuo Mountain Retreat. Chris married and moved to Thailand in 2008 where he resides with his wife and daughter in Chiang Mai. He spends Summers with his family in Seattle, Washington.
