Leon P. Jones is a Criminal Justice Instructor at Meridian Technology Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he teaches future law enforcement and public safety professionals. Prior to entering education, Leon completed a distinguished 30-year career with the Oklahoma State University Police Department, retiring as Chief of Police. He began his law enforcement career in 1994 and advanced through the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and ultimately Chief in 2017. He was honored to serve as the first African American Chief of Police on Oklahoma State University's main campus.Throughout his career, Leon earned Advanced Law Enforcement Certification through CLEET and completed more than 1,500 hours of professional training. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy's 222nd Session in Quantico, Virginia, one of the most respected leadership programs in law enforcement. He holds Associate, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees in Applied Sciences with an emphasis in Criminal Justice.Today, Leon is dedicated to preparing the next generation of public safety professionals through classroom instruction, hands-on training, leadership development, and mentoring. He serves as a CLEET-certified instructor and teaches courses in criminal justice, emergency management, ethics, report writing, private security, and public safety operations.In addition to his work in education, Leon is an author, speaker, consultant, and community leader. He is the founder of Leon P. Jones LLC, providing consulting and training services, and co-founder of the nonprofit organization 4KidzSake, which focuses on supporting youth and educational initiatives.Leon is the author of several books, including Following a Path I Couldn't See, The Truth That Stayed, and The Man in My Uniform. Through his writing, speaking, and teaching, he shares lessons on leadership, perseverance, public service, and personal growth.A native of New Boston, Texas, Leon believes that success is built through preparation, integrity, service, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
