Simon, the Sweet-Smelling Skunk takes place on a fictional animal farm called Wonderwood Acres. Simon is a young skunk anticipating the start of Skunk School. Simon is just like all the other skunks- almost: he has a sleek black coat, a beautiful white stripe- but he cannot make foul odors. No matter how hard he tries, Simon smells like a bouquet of flowers. With the first day of Skunk School just around the corner, Simon is worried. How will he ever fit in when his spray has more flower than power? He tries studying the art of smelling bad. He then enlists the help of the pigs on the farm who are known for their stinky mud. His father encourages him to "just be himself" and while he appreciates the advice, he still worries about fitting in.
When he is just about to give up hopes of ever being able to stink (and to fit in), a group of hunters and their super-sniffing hound dogs track the skunk village. When hunters come to the farm and want the skunks' fur pelts, being able to produce a traditional odor really stinks! As the fragrant finale unfolds, it's up to Simon to step up, embrace his uniqueness, and offer a smelly solution- proving to everyone that sometimes being different makes the most "SCENTS".
Simon, the Sweet-Smelling Skunk is a cute, humorous and heartwarming story about being different, about fitting in, and about working hard to achieve the "sweet smell of success."
