Synopsis

Firefly Song

Books of the Kindling, Book Three

Her words can conquer body and soul. Can his music capture her heart?

Thea Woodruff is finally coming home to Woodruff Mountain. But because of her ongoing struggle with an intimidating preternatural ability, she plans to attend her brother Daniel's wedding, mourn her grandfather's death, and flee the mountain once again. Thea still blames herself for Becca Moser's death so long ago and, of course, the first person she encounters in town is her old friend and fellow musician, Becca's brother.

Sheriff Jake Moser is seriously considering a career change. Law enforcement is a family calling, but his real passion is making music and building musical instruments. Seeing Thea again reminds him of the amazing music they used to make, but her arrival also intensifies the ravings of his mother about the evil happenings on Woodruff Mountain.

When Thea finds out that others have unique abilities too, including Jake and members of her family, she still insists that she must leave because her gift is far too dangerous. Meanwhile, Jake is coping with his thriving business, the bizarre kidnappings of newborns, and the appearance of an uninvited suitor from Thea's past, when his mother's obsession with the Woodruffs threatens to turn violent.

Will Thea and Jake be able to save everyone on the mountain, including her newborn niece, when an even greater threat arises?

À propos de l?auteur

The granddaughter of a coal miner and the great-great-granddaughter of one of the Muscogee people, Donna was raised in the shadows of the Appalachian Mountains, in the beautiful hills of East Tennessee. She was lured away from her mountains by an admittedly gorgeous Italian guy, who married her and carried her off to very flat (they call hills mountains down here) and very hot (no seriously, people bake cookies in their cars) Texas. Donna has made her living doing a little bit of everything, including a stint as an IRS tax auditor, a few years managing bookstores, and a long career writing and managing writers in the corporate world.*** Besides writing, and all the wonderful things that go with it, Donna enjoys being walked by her Chihuahua, doing yoga, and reading - LOTS of reading. And you can certainly see the influence of the science fiction books on her keeper shelf - Robert Heinlein, Arthur C. Clarke, Anne McCaffrey, Lois McMaster Bujold, Ray Bradbury, and so many others - on her books. But the ancient and magical and beautiful mountains that surrounded her childhood are probably the biggest influence on the Books of the Kindling.
