Synopsis

The Unicorn Shore: The Secret of the Shell
Book One in The Unicorn Shore Series

She thought it was just a fairy tale—until the shell whispered her name.

Nine-year-old Marigold always believed Grandma Pearl's stories about magic hidden in the waves. But nothing could have prepared her for the moment she found a glowing seashell shaped like a unicorn's horn—and it whispered her name.

Swept away to the Unicorn Shore, a mysterious land where unicorns talk, waves carry secrets, and magic is everywhere, Marigold learns she's been chosen for an urgent mission.

A powerful enemy is rising from beneath the waves, and her storms are already draining the Unicorn Shore's magic. If she breaks free, the bond between their worlds will be destroyed forever—and only Marigold holds the key to stopping her.

With the help of her new unicorn friends—wise Coral, speedy Spark, and snack-obsessed Nibbles—Marigold must solve a riddle hidden in an ancient lighthouse to get the answers they need. Answers that will bring her face to face with her greatest fear.

Can Marigold find the courage to face the darkness and save her friends before the Unicorn Shore vanishes forever?

Perfect for fans of fairy tales, friendship, and magical adventures. This is a heartwarming story of courage, belonging, and the power of believing in the magic within us.

This book is part of a junior novel series for readers ages 6–9. Junior novels are one step up from early chapter books and are designed for advancing readers who are ready for longer chapters, bigger adventures, and their first step into chapter books without pictures.

À propos de l'auteur

L. E. Dudley (Laurie), a North Carolina native, is a children's writer and the author of the heartwarming junior novel series, The Unicorn Shore. She is the proud wife of a career Army man and they have lived all over the world with their 3 children. Laurie believes books, especially fiction, have great power in helping children process hard situations and big emotions. She has not only witnessed it in the lives of her own children, who experienced the loss of friendships and a lack of stability due to frequent moves, but also in the classroom during her time as a Kindergarten teacher. She is passionate about the importance of raising children with a love for reading, as well as the important role books hold in strengthening the loving bond between child and caregiver. No matter what is happening in a child's world, books create stability and a sense of connection. Bringing her own fantastical worlds to life to share with children everywhere has been a life long desire. Laurie lives wherever the Army has currently sent her family, along with their little doodle dog, Lily, and their smooshy-face black cat, Pepper. She has a journalism degree and a master's degree in trauma counseling, and is a full member of The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. You can find out more about Laurie, her books and her upcoming projects at www.LEDUDLEYBOOKS.com
