Synopsis
A collection of poems by Roderick Deacey, an award winning Maryland based writer and jazz artist. He is well know as the head of the DC Beats. Birds are the subject of the book, and the introduction is actually a life list of sorts, naming at least 38 species or subspecies, plus Charlie "Bird" Parker. "These intriguing poems explore all that 'bird' can imply-from a hard-to identify hawk streaking by, to Charlie Parker's undying spirit, to the way words in a conversation can fly like birds but miss the mark. Deacey describes the small 'sendings' he often glimpses in the natural world-a fallen red feather, the shapes wind makes in snow-that intrigue and bring hope.
