If you could save an endangered species by stealing a time machine, wouldn't you?
Dazzle Irwin helps run her family's holographic safari, a sanctuary where visitors encounter realistic versions of extinct animals. Daz's favorite extinct animal is the African elephant, whose image and trumpeting call were captured on video by her parents - with the help of a Brink Box time machine.
When her mother died while time traveling, the Brink Project was brought to an abrupt halt, and the time machines were dismantled. Or so Daz's dad told her.
Then Daz and her sister find an unregistered Brink Box in their father's workshop, offering them the chance to travel to the past and to change the future.
Because maybe they don't have to live in a world without elephants - or their mom.

Kimberly Christensen writes from the rainy Pacific Northwest, where she's also likely to be cuddled up with her faithful writing companion, Coco the dog, and hot cup of tea. When she's not busy inventing new worlds, Kimberly loves to garden, tend her honey bees, play boardgames with her husband and two kids, dance with her English Morris dancing troupe, or try something new. Kimberly immerses herself in nerd culture, particularly Star Wars and Doctor Who, though she adores most any story in which smart and ethical saves the day.

Paperback. Etat : new. Paperback. What if you could use the technology of the future to interact with the animals of the past?Lu Irwin died doing what she loved - saving endangered species from extinction - until her bloody return on the floor of her time machine upended her family. Years later her oldest daughter, Dazzle, is still stuck, hoping that the convoluted nature of time travel will mean that one day she will see her mom again. But the government has closed the time travel project, and even if that changed, her dad would never agree to it.Then Daz and her sister, Antsy, discover an unregistered Brink Box time machine. It still works.Daz has long suspected that she and Antsy don't know the whole truth of their mother's death. As she examines the Brink Box's trip log and her mother's notes, she learns that her mother had been using the Box for unauthorized trips - and that she died before she could complete her dream of saving African elephants from extinction. Daz is ready to pick up where her mother left off, but first she must puzzle how just how much of her timeline she can mess with, who else has been using the Brink Box since her mother died, and how much her father knows about any of it.
