Mastering the Synergy of Technology and Human Expertise
Understanding AI technology is just the beginning. Leaders must understand how to employ power skills to elevate how humans interact―with one another and with AI. Critical thinking, leadership, conflict management, stakeholder engagement and other power skills are essential in all projects.
AI-Powered Leadership aims to empower leaders to navigate the complexities of the AI-driven world by developing human competencies and integrating them with AI capabilities, fostering a balanced, innovative, and ethically sound leadership approach that drives sustainable success. It aims to provide a comprehensive framework for leaders to understand and apply the “Both/And” approach in leadership, where leaders don’t have to choose between traditional methods and AI-driven innovation but can leverage the strengths of both. The approach of the book is a practical, integrative framework that combines theory with actionable strategies to help leaders navigate the complex dynamics of AI in their organizations.
“AI is already here and is making career-altering changes in the way project managers lead their projects. Ignoring it won’t make it go away. Simply using it is also not enough. Get and stay ahead of the curve by learning how to best collaborate with AI systems. This book gives you a unique edge―it details how you can combine your power skills and powerful knowledge about how AI really works (and doesn’t, sometimes) to make the best possible project decisions, improve project success―and keep your career moving forward.”
―Harold Kerzner, Ph.D

À propos de l’auteur
Dr. Dave Silberman is a senior executive leader, speaker, adjunct lecturer at Boston University, and author committed to unlocking human potential without constraints. His unique expertise in the human side of business and project management comes from serving over 20 years working in the government, hi-tech startup, healthcare, and venture capital sectors. Dave lives his life in practice and research, exploring the human side of organizational performance with a particular focus on the intricacies of workplace distress, identity-based tension, and the role of cognitive complexity in adaptive and maladaptive coping mechanisms. Dave has authored and co-authored scholarly literature, is a USA Today best-selling author, and has published in places like Forbes, where he also serves as the Member Leader for the Critical Thinking Group for the Forbes Human Resources Council. Finally, Dave is a decorated disabled United States combat veteran for his service for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army, is a seasoned law enforcement veteran and holds a Ph.D. in Human Resources Development and a Master of Science in Project Management.
Rich Maltzman considers himself a ‘pracademic’, currently Master Lecturer at Boston University, an author, and a consultant, providing clients with a deep learning experience and improved results. Retired from a 40-year career in telecom, mainly in engineering and project management, his focus is always on converting weaknesses into strengths while teaching clients/students how to apply learned skills to everyday situations. Rich's integration of a holistic, global view of project management has resulted in international consulting and worldwide speaking engagements (Costa Rica, South Africa, Malaysia, China, Mexico, Canada, India, Italy, The Netherlands, and Bulgaria) in which the focus is the long-term success of projects, with an eye towards ecological and social systems. His blog at PMI's projectmanagement.com (People, Planet, Profits, and Projects) site has become one of its most popular, and he recently started a podcast, B'yond PM; on Spotify, after being a guest on far too many other podcasts. A co-author of nine books on project leadership, including the recent Great Meetings Build Great Teams, and the recently published GreenPMO, he is a former VP of Professional Development for PMI Mass Bay (the Boston area PMI Chapter), and was on the Review Committee for the 7th Edition PMBOK®; Guide, helping to assure that sustainability thinking finally made it into the Standard and the Body of Knowledge.
Dr. Loredana Abramo is a global citizen, who has lived and worked in several international locations, across 4 continents. She has over 30 years of experience developing and delivering large telecommunications networks as well as global roles in the corporate program office, from competency development to IT deployments and Corporate Quality improvement programs. Loredana has held key leadership roles in Customer delivery, such as PMO Deputy Director for a large infrastructure program in Australia and Senior Project Director for a transportation project in Hawaii. Loredana is a Doctor in Electrical Engineering, her experimental thesis developed an image analysis algorithm for the identification of round-like shapes (bacteria on a petri dish), an early machine learning program. She is a certified Professional Engineer in Italy and has a Certificate in Advanced Project Management from DePaul University. Loredana has a patent on a software tool automating data provisioning in complex telecommunication networks. She is a PMP® a member of PMI, a senior member of IEEE, and a TIA Convergence Technologies Professional. Always committed to sharing her experience in project management, Loredana has written and presented multiple papers in support of IEEE, PMI, and IPMA. She has co-authored a book on Project Management competency development (Bridging the PM Competency Gap, 2017), a book on Responsible Project Management (The Responsible Project Manager Handbook, 2022) and is now adjunct professor for online Project Management courses at Boston University Metropolitan College.
Vijay Kanabar, Ph.D., is the director and associate professor of Project Management programs at Boston University, Metropolitan College. He is one of the earliest PMP-credentialed practitioners from the Project Management Institute. He created one of the earliest PMP exam corporate training materials three decades ago and has introduced several thousand students and practitioners to the core exam concepts of both the CAPM® and Project Management Professional (PMP)® exams. Vijay also is an agile practitioner and has earned the PMI-ACP credential. He has authored several books and more than 75 research papers in IT and project management. He received the prestigious PMI Linn Stuckenbruck Teaching Excellence Award in 2017 for his commitment to teaching and enhancing the project management discipline in higher education.
