540p. EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED EDITION. A hardcover book bound in gilt-trimmed brown leather. ACCEPTABLE CONDITION; the front cover is loose, the spine label is chipped, and a hairline crack is forming along the back edge of the spine. Edges chafed and small ink spot on side foredge. Extensive notetaking on rear free endpaper, which has a hole torn in it. Pages securely bound, despite damaged cover, and text itself is unmarked. A history of St. Paul's Cathedral in London. This edition is extra-illustrated; besides the original black and white plates, additional pictures and handwritten letters (dated from the 19th century) have been tucked in by a previous owner. Also included is a handbill for a charity sermon given at the cathedral in 1821. Contains the bookplate of English barrister and philatelist Frederick Adolphus Philbrick (1835-1910).
