Synopsis :

This book discusses the significance of the chemical acaricides resistance in ticks as a global problem. Resistance is the ability of a tick population to survive and reproduce in the presence of a pesticide that would otherwise be lethal. This resistance threatens the efficacy of a range of acaricides used to control tick populations and consequently, has a negative impact on the effectiveness of various pest management strategies. This resistance is caused by the selection of resistant tick genotypes and enhanced metabolic detoxification. To address this problem the book explores an integrated approach that is needed to identify and manage tick populations that are resistant to acaricides, as well as identify and develop novel acaricides that are effective against resistant tick species populations.

It describes the complex issues associated with this phenomenon using cutting edge advancement in Bioinformatics and Bioinformation Discovery. The chapters provide current information pertaining to the types of protein-protein complexes (homodimers, heterodimers, multimer complexes) in context with various specific and sensitive biological functions. The significance of such complex formation in human biology in the light of molecular evolution is also highlighted using several examples.

The book serves as a valuable resource for students, academicians and researchers studying about tick resistance.

À propos de l?auteur:

Dr Sachin Kumar is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology, Constituent Government College, Meerapur Bangar, Bijnor (M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly), Uttar Pradesh, India. Previously, he worked as a young scientist at the entomology laboratory, Division of Parasitology at Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India. He completed a national post-doctoral fellowship from IVRI, Izatnagar, Bareilly, awarded by SERB-Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. He worked extensively for the last 15 years on the characterization of chemical acaricide resistance in cattle ticks and their mechanism. He has developed acaricide resistance data for a number of tick populations collected from different states of India. He has developed 02 natural formulation technology for the control of tick infestation and validated them on resistant ticks in field conditions and it was successfully commercialized. He has published 04 patents and 58 international research papers with good impact factors. He has completed more than 03 projects as a principal investigator. Currently, he is also working as an associate editor for the International Journal of Tropical Insect Science. He is awarded Scientist of the year in Dubai Conference 2023.

Dr. Raquel Cossío-Bayúgar is a senior scientific researcher at the National Center for Disciplinary Research in Animal Health and Safety (CENID-SAI) in Mexico. She holds a degree in biomedical research from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. With a specialization in cattle-tick acaricide-resistance, she has also explored areas such as in vitro-tick cell culture, tick response to pathogens, alternatives to acaricides for tick control and tick physiology. Dr. Cossio-Bayugar has published over 75 scientific articles, book chapters, and scientific assays on ticks, parasitology, biocontrol, and related subjects. Her achievements include receiving Honorable Mention in the Basic Biomedical Research Licentiate exam at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, CANIFARMA Veterinary Award 2010. Dr. Alfredo TéllezGirón Rode in Basic Research and being a member of the Honor Society of Agriculture. She has also served as a referee for various international journals and held positions as an evaluator for CONACYT, Mexico's National Council of Science and Technology.

Dr Anil Kumar Sharma, working as an Assistant Professor, School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. Previously, I worked as a Senior Researcher in Entomology Laboratory, Division of Parasitology, ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly (U.P.), India. I am exclusively working on acaricide resistance in ticks and development of herbal acaricides for the management of resistant tick infestations in animals for the last 15 years. I have developed acaricide resistance data of a number of tick populations collected from different states of India. I have also screened many plant extracts and identified two plants having acaricidal activity. Two herbal technologies were developed and validated in field condition. One antitick herbal technology is commercialized. More than 40 international and 02 patents have been published.

Dr. Estefan Miranda Miranda is a senior scientific researcher at the National Center for Disciplinary Research in Animal Health and Safety (CENID-SAI) in Mexico. He holds a chemist degree from Guerrero State University, a master's degree in Parasitology from the Morelos Autonomous University and a Ph.D. degree from Texas University. Dr. Miranda is recognized for his exceptional contributions to the field of animal health and safety with a primary focus on parasite antiparasitic-resistance, molecular biology of parasites, and parasite physiology, Dr. Miranda has conducted extensive research in these areas. He has published numerous scientific articles, book chapters, and scientific essays on various subjects including parasitology, biocontrol, parasite resistance, and related fields.
