“No matter how desperate the situation, when not a glimmer of light pierces an endless dark tunnel, never lose hope, for HOPE is a silent angel that delivers us from the darkest Maelstrom.”
A unique, rich, transcultural account of decades of experience in the field of therapeutic community, in an easy narrative to follow. Dr. Perfas weaves a personal story of walking into an uncharted career in addiction therapy. This life journey tracks his personal development as a professional while providing a rare glimpse into the challenges of recovery from addiction and the struggles of those who work as addiction professionals. He tells an engaging personal story of his introduction into the therapeutic community, his experiences learning and practicing the TC in different cultural settings, and decades of counseling and teaching the TC to clients and other professionals. The TC methods and tools come to life as he tells his story.
