Charming children's story, originally published in German in 1921, featuring Maya, an "adventuresome young bee" whose daring travels out of the hive "reveal all the wonder of the smallest things in nature" & render the bee world "warmly human." Translated by Adele Szold Seltzer, this 1951 edition has new illustrations prepared especially by Rafaello Busoni which appear throughout the 191 pages. Hardcover book has brown cloth over boards lettered in gilt to spine. Condition is VG+: extremely clean, binding strong & straight, pages heavily tanned but completely unmarked save for blindstamp from the library of former owner to title page. Very mild pushing to spine tips & bumping to corners. The unclipped DJ is VG, with minor rubbing & a few small chips to extremities; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free! Our photos depict the exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping if ordered by 2 pm weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next day. N° de réf. du vendeur 026462
