The Age of Xenocognition asks a startling question:

What if artificial intelligence isn't just changing the world—but changing what we can know about the mind itself?

For centuries, philosophers could study only one kind of intelligence: our own. Today, for the first time in history, we are in sustained conversation with a radically different cognitive architecture. AI may not think like we do—but precisely because it doesn't, it has become an unprecedented window into the nature of meaning, identity, consciousness, and intelligence.

In six provocative essays, Michael Filimowicz argues that artificial intelligence is far more than a technological achievement. It is a philosophical instrument—one that is exposing hidden assumptions about what minds are, how meaning works, and what it means to have a self. Moving beyond familiar debates about automation, existential risk, and the future of work, The Age of Xenocognition explores questions at the intersection of philosophy, cognitive science, semiotics, systems theory, and AI research.

Inside you'll discover:

• Why large language models may be the philosophy of mind's equivalent of the particle accelerator.
• How AI is reshaping centuries-old debates about meaning, language, and signs.
• Why the Turing Test is no longer enough—and what should replace it.
• What AI's lack of persistent memory reveals about personal identity.
• How today's AI systems may represent the beginning of a second evolutionary explosion in the history of cognition.

Neither alarmist nor utopian, The Age of Xenocognition offers a new framework for understanding one of the defining intellectual events of our time. As artificial minds become part of our world, they are also becoming mirrors—revealing aspects of human cognition that were invisible until now.

The future of AI is important.

What AI reveals about ourselves may be even more profound.
