Postage adjusted for postcard orders.; Postcard; 3 3/8" X 5 1/4"; Colour lithograph postcard Alte-Tubingen with image from a painting by Gustav Adolf Carl Closs of a man in traditional attire walking in flowering fruit trees with Old Tübingen in the background. UDB Unused - clean, no writing or postage marks. Date approximate Gustav Adolf Carl Closs (1864-1938) was a German painter, illustrator, heraldist and entomologist. He studied law at the University of Tübingen, and briefly attended the University of Freiburg. Deciding on a change of careers, he attended the Academy of Fine Arts, Karlsruhe, where he studied with Ernst Schurth, soon transferring to the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich to study with Wilhelm von Diez. In 1891, he returned to Stuttgart, earning a living providing illustrations for the popular satirical journal Fliegende Blätter.
