Bookplate on the front pastedown. Engraved frontispiece. Large fine folding map. A very clean crisp copy of this very scarce title. Sabin 13796, T.P.L. 428, In a series of 23 letters, Cluny discusses the economic state of all of the colonies in British North America. He discusses the Hudson's Bay Company and is critical of their monopoly on the Fur Trade. What I think is most interesting is the large folding map entitled "A Map of North & South America with Part of Europe, Asia & Africa". The map shows Baffin's Bay and all of the unknown parts to the west and north towards the pole. The map predates Cook, Mackenzie and Hearne and thus there is a lot of speculation regarding Dobbs/Middleton, Bering Straights and the Straits of Anian. I think it is a fantastic, interesting map showing the north.
