Tight binding, bright gilt lettering. Boards heavily worn on corners and spine, top layer of spine is detaching in places, worn through on edges, top and bottom, page edges dyed red. Beginning of hinge crack between front board and ffep. Does not affect tightness of book. Previous owner's name in pencil on title page. Foxing/staining throughout, especially on outer pages. Interior unmarked with b/w woodcuts by Mr. Yarrell throughout. A general outline of Ichthyology and descriptions of the fresh-water fish of the British Islands. 425 pages. Contains 150 black and white wood engravings by Mr. Yarrell, illustrator. Tail has 1 inch split, gently bruised to head and tail. Extremities rubbed, with corners slightly worn and bumped. Top textblock heavily tanned. Previous owners name in ink to pastedown. Free endpapers slightly browned. Pages 181 and 184 publishers uncut pages.
