Explore life in Blantyre, Scotland in the 18th and 19th Centuries as written at that time.Paul Veverka of the community history archive, ‘Blantyre Project’ has set out to republish this old book by transcribing it exactly as it was written in 1885, together with the original illustrations and making the book available to readers again in an affordable manner. All financial proceeds from the purchase of this book are going to local Blantyre charities and good causes.

À propos de l'auteur: Paul D Veverka is a Blantyre born businessman, Commercial Construction manager, local historian and author. He has an active and growing interest in all aspects of History and improving community life in his hometown of Blantyre. As a day job, his construction managerial activities have in recent years included the construction of the new Queensferry Crossing over the Forth and the large 58km Aberdeen bypass Road. Born in 1971, Paul is the eldest of four children of Josef and Janet Veverka (both dec.) from whom he inherited his passion for the history of Blantyre. With Scottish maternal ancestry and Czech paternal ancestry, he is Chairperson of Blantyre Community Committee and a self confessed community campaigner for all sorts of improvements in his home town. His successful non profit website “The Blantyre Project” is currently attracting widespread regard from ex-pats & local residents alike and followed daily by over 12,000 people. Paul resides at Croftfoot, High Blantyre, itself one of Blantyre’s oldest inhabited houses dating from 1730. His wife, Paula is a Professional Wedding Photographer based at the studio adjacent and they have a much adored, five year old daughter.
