Book Two of The Ascendant Guardian Trilogy
by Gregory Kelson

The reforging of the Nexus was meant to bring peace. Instead, it awakened the next great war.

The planes stand united — in theory. The coalition of magic, once bound by trust, now trembles under the weight of suspicion and fear. In the wake of victory, whispers of betrayal ripple through every realm. Envoys vanish. Outposts fall silent. And in the ley-lit skies above the Nexus, something unseen begins to rewrite the very fabric of existence.

Jordan, the Ascendant Guardian, feels it before anyone else — the subtle discord in the threads of magic that weave the planes together. The ley-lines that once sang in harmony now hum with dissonance, warning of a darkness not content to destroy, but to reshape. When fragments of an ancient sigil surface — the mark of Vaerion, thought vanquished long ago — Jordan and his allies realize that their greatest enemy was never truly gone.

From the burning ruins of Emberdeep to the shattered halls of the Obsidian Bastion, Jordan, Kaelen, and the surviving Council must confront a truth far more terrifying than war: the rise of a mind that seeks not conquest, but conversion. Aeridan, the Architect, emerges from myth — a visionary turned zealot whose plan is nothing less than the re-creation of existence itself. He calls it The Singularity Doctrine — a perfect, unified reality free from conflict, individuality, and choice. To achieve it, he will collapse the realms into one.

As the balance of creation falters, Jordan must face impossible choices. To save the planes, he must risk becoming what he fears most: a weapon of his own making. Allies become suspects. Memories twist into lies. The Nexus — once a beacon of unity — begins to fracture from within. Every victory carries a cost, and every truth uncovered draws Jordan closer to a revelation that will shatter everything he believes about power, loyalty, and destiny.

Beneath the storm of collapsing worlds, where time folds and faith bleeds into shadow, the Guardian will stand against the Architect — light against living flame, will against inevitability. And when the final ley-line breaks, reality itself will choose a side.

The Ascendant Guardian: The Architect’s War continues the sweeping saga that began with The Reforging of the Nexus, blending epic fantasy, cosmic wonder, and deep psychological conflict. Fans of Brandon Sanderson, Brent Weeks, and Steven Erikson will find themselves drawn into a world where philosophy becomes weapon, and magic is not merely power — it is identity.

Prepare for breathtaking battles, intricate lore, and haunting revelations as the Ascendant Guardian trilogy enters its most perilous chapter.

Will the Guardian preserve the Balance — or will he become the Architect of its end?
