A propos de cet article

Assu of Cape Mudge: Recollections of a Coastal Indian Chief By Harry Assu with Joy Inglis Illustrated by Hilary Stewart Vancouver: University of British Columbia Press, 1989 reprint Hardcover with dust jacket 163 pages ISBN: 0774803339 Condition: Near Fine / Near Fine dust jacket Harry Assu’s recollections of family, community, and cultural change at Cape Mudge on Quadra Island, British Columbia. Born in 1905, Assu was the son of Chief Billy Assu and became the first elected Chief Councillor of the We Wai Kai community. His account combines family history with memories of the transition from traditional ways of life into the twentieth century. Prepared with Joy Inglis, the book preserves a community leader’s perspective on Northwest Coast history and cultural continuity. Hilary Stewart’s drawings include depictions of supernatural events made near Cape Mudge as Assu described them, giving the illustrations a direct connection to his oral accounts. Condition: Near Fine hardcover in a Near Fine dust jacket. Hints of wear along edges of dust jacket and lightly penciled price on front endpaper. Otherwise, like new. 1989 reprint. Description de la boutique

I unearth paper treasures for your reading pleasure. I started selling books when my father left me his vintage paperback collection, almost 25 years ago. I grade condition conservatively and do my best to convey all flaws, and to respond quickly to questions. When issues arise, I do my best to come up with solutions that keep both parties happy. When I'm not panning for gold in thrift stores and estate sales, I'm listening to records, hanging out with my family, or playing tabletop games.
