Reading in part: "I thank you for your suggestion but the truth is we have no room for more editorial departments than we already have." Remembered for his popular novels and poetry of the late 19th century, Belchertown, Massachusetts native, Josiah Gilbert Holland (1819-1881), who also wrote under the pseudonym, Timothy Titcomb, was also a founder and editor of Scribner's Monthly, where several of his novels fist appeared, including, Arthur Bonnicastle, The Story of Sevenoaks, and Nicholas Minturn.
