A reprint of the classic Nash Buckingham book which first published in 1938 by the original New York City-based Derrydale Press founded by publisher, author, and outdoorsman Eugene V. Connett III and which operated from 1926 to 1942. The reborn Derrydale Press of Lyon, Mississippi was founded by Douglas C. Mauldin in 1988 and was dissolved in 1999. Mauldin's Derrydale was an interesting but somewhat obscure publishing experiment as his reprints were certainly well crafted and sated pent-up demand for titles that were difficult to obtain for many of Connett's Derrydale print runs were fairly modest in number. However, Mauldin's enterprise may not have proven lucrative as his print runs probably exceeded the then current demand for this bookseller recalls a number of Lyon imprint Derrydales as being available as remainders back in the early to mid 1990s. Educated at Harvard and the University of Tennessee, Nash Buckingham was a famed Memphis sportsman, magazine outdoor writer, and conservationist who authored a number of still popular books on hunting and fishing in the South. {Shelf-SportsBox06}.
