Selected and newly printed from the 8000 original Conlon negatives in the archives of "The Sporting News", 205 images fill the pages of "Baseball's Golden Age". The glory of that time is conveyed too in the text. The authors have assembled evocative stories, packed with trivia, that bring these legendary baseball heroes to life. The big names included are Christy Mathewson, Cy Young, Shoeless Joe Jackson, Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth - but there are lots of less memorable players as well as umpires and fans.
À propos de l'auteur: Neil McCabe received his B.A. in music composition from UCLA, where he also studied Russian language and literature. His fascination with baseball began at the age of six, when his grandmother told him to be quiet and listen to the Dodgers. Constance McCabe works at the National Gallery of Art as a consulting photograph conservator. She is also co-director of PPS, Inc., a small business that serves the photographic negative preservation needs of the cultural institutions. This project, the brother-and-sister team's first book, combines Neil's skill as a writer and researcher with Constance's darkroom artistry.
