"Basics of Acupuncture" is now updated and revised in a second edition. Several new scientific advances have been added, namely studies on drug addiction, antiemetic effects, and the urogenital efficacy of acupuncture. In response to numerous requests, the authors have also added a more detailed account of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). While TCM has no modern mechanistic explanation, it is obvious through empirical observation that it does have an effect and can be assessed in controlled clinical trials. The section on TCM, in addition to the more conventional chapters in the book, is what makes the authors' work unique.
