The Battle of Waterloo: Or, a General History of the Events Connected with that Important Aera; from the Period of Bonaparte’s Escape from Elba, to his Arrival at St. Helena. Containing Official and Circumstantial Accounts, British and Foreign, of the Decisive Victory, Obtained over the French Army, by the Duke of Wellington, and Prince Blucher, on the Plains of Waterloo, June 18, 1815. By G.W. Picton and published in London by R. Edwards. Circa 1817. [12] + 488 pp. 8.5” x 5.5”. 8vo. Hardcover engraved full leather. As-is, with boards detached and loss of binding on spine. Some losses along edges and corners of boards. Text block itself remains bound well with light wear. Includes three foldout maps and nine engravings, some of which are colored. All maps and illustrations present photographed above. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. An extremely scare and early British printing of an officer’s account of the Battle of Waterloo, the decisive battle that marked the end of the Napoleonic Wars. Includes information of military formations, orders of battle, and accounts of its principal officers. A wonderful candidate for rebinding and restoration.
