A propos de cet article

I try to show the slant in the spine. Maybe from being in a stack of books for a while, or from someone reading. For that purpose, I'm listing this as "good." If it were for that slant, it would be in very good condition. Pages and front and back cover in very good shape.; Condition checked point by point on this copy:; Overall grade: Used - Good; Exterior condition: Minor edgewear present. Corners show mild bumping. Minor creasing visible along the spine. Spine has a slight roll or curvature.; Pages: Pages are clean and unmarked. Light tanning or age toning to pages.; Storage & odour: Stored in a smoke-free environment.; Completeness: All pages intact. Please review the photos and condition notes for details of this copy. "A master storyteller at his best--the O. Henry Prize winner Stephen King delivers a generous collection of stories, several of them brand-new, featuring revelatory autobiographical comments on when, why, and how he came to write (or rewrite) each story. Since his first collection, Nightshift, published thirty-five years ago, Stephen King has dazzled readers with his genius as a writer of short fiction. In this new collection he assembles, for the first time, recent stories that have never been published in a book. He introduces each with a passage about its origins or his motivations for writing it. There are thrilling connections between stories; themes of morality, the afterlife, guilt, what we would do differently if we could see into the future or correct the mistakes of the past. "Afterlife" is about a man who died of colon cancer and keeps reliving the same life, repeating his mistakes over and over again. Several stories feature characters at the end of life, revisiting their crimes and misdemeanors. Other stories address what happens when someone discovers that he has supernatural powers--the columnist who kills people by writing their obituaries in "Obits;" the old judge in "The Dune" who, as a boy, canoed to a deserted island and saw names written in the sand, the names of people who then died in freak accidents. In "Morality," King looks at how a marriage and two lives fall apart after the wife and husband enter into what seems, at first, a devil's pact they can win. Magnificent, eerie, utterly compelling, these stories comprise one of King's finest gifts to his constant reader--"I made them especially for you," says King. "Feel free to examine them, but please be careful. The best of them have teeth""-- "From a master of the short story, a collection that includes stories never before in print, never published in America, never collected and brand new- with the magnificent bones of interstitial autobiographical comments on when, why and how Stephen King came to write each story"-- Publisher: Hodder & Stoughton · Published: 2016-09-06 · Pages: 507 · Dimensions: 180x115x40 · Weight: 300.0g · ISBN-13: 9781473698932.…

Description de la boutique

I am an independent bookseller based in Perth, Western Australia, specialising in quality used and out-of-print books. My focus is on good reading copies and well-kept paperbacks, with a particular soft spot for literary fiction, science fiction and fantasy, crime, and interesting non-fiction that deserves a second life on someone else’s shelf. Every book is individually inspected and described. I use clear, consistent condition notes and detailed photographs so you know exactly what you’re getting before you buy. Edgewear, spine creases, inscriptions, foxing, and any other flaws are clearly noted. If a book has something special – an early printing, a nice cover design, or an interesting previous owner mark – I’ll mention that too. Orders are packed carefully to survive the postal system, using appropriate padding and sturdy packaging. Whenever possible, I reuse clean packing materials to reduce waste without compromising protection. Customer service is straightforward: if you have a question about a specific book, feel free to contact me before purchasing. I aim to ship promptly and resolve any issues fairly. Thank you for supporting a small, independent bookseller and helping keep good books in circulation.…
