THE TRAGEDY OF VICTORIA LUCAS Plath's only novel, The Bell Jar remains one of the most enduring psychological fictions of the twentieth century. Though fiction, it is a thinly veiled autobiographical account of a young woman's descent into mental illness-mirroring Plath's own breakdown just a decade earlier. Its raw unflinching depiction of mental collapse combined with a fictionalized portrayal of people close to Plath led to its initial release in 1963 under the pseudonym "Victoria Lucas." Her suicide just weeks later on 11 February 1963 transformed the novel's reception, and its eventual 1971 US publication under her real name sealed its place as a landmark of feminist and psychological literature. Some sunning extremities and spine, very slight lean, else fine in near fine, price-clipped dust jacket with water mark top edge verso, in mylar cover. Publisher's full purple cloth in Amy Isbey Duevell dust jacket ($6.90). N° de réf. du vendeur 241762
