Meet Jordan The Nature Boy. Outside is his favorite place to be. When he’s stuck indoors one day, his imagination transforms boredom into a magical adventure through America’s national parks. Along the way, he discovers the wonders of nature, the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers as America’s first park rangers, and learns about the first African American superintendent in the U.S. National Park Service—Brigadier General Charles Young. Through Jordan’s eyes, kids see that nature belongs to them too, and that they can be leaders in caring for the Earth.

We Belong Outside is a thrilling adventure that proves getting outside can connect kids to history, culture, and caring for the Earth. This book is more than a story—it’s a tool to spark curiosity, teach history effortlessly, and show kids their own role as caretakers of the world around them.
