Paperback. The Biblical Structure of the Baptist ChurchPastor J.E. GandyThe Biblical Structure of the Baptist Church is a deeply scriptural and practical guide to understanding how the local church is designed to function according to biblical principles and Baptist congregational theology. This book explores the biblical foundation for church leadership, congregational authority, ministry departments, and the shared responsibility of believers to preserve unity, order, and spiritual power within the body of Christ.Drawing from Scripture, historical Baptist practice, and pastoral experience, Pastor J.E. Gandy presents a balanced approach to church leadership that emphasizes both structure and spiritual vitality. The book affirms that Christ alone is the Head of the Church, while the members serve as stewards entrusted with the responsibility to prayerfully discern leadership, maintain accountability, and ensure that the church remains faithful to its mission.Throughout the book, readers are guided through the biblical roles of pastors, deacons, deaconesses, trustees, ministry leaders, musicians, ushers, and members, showing how each role contributes to the health and effectiveness of the church. Special attention is given to the importance of cooperation between leadership and congregation, reinforcing the Baptist belief that the church is not governed by hierarchy alone but by a prayerful body seeking the will of God together. This work also addresses important and sometimes difficult topics such as pastoral calling, leadership character, restoration of imperfect servants, the difference between shepherds and hirelings, financial stewardship, and the necessity of maintaining unity while navigating differences within the church.A major theme of the book is that the church must never become merely an institution or organization, but must remain a living body empowered by the Holy Spirit to minister healing, restoration, and truth to a hurting world. The church is not a business driven by profit, but a spiritual hospital committed to caring for souls and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This book affirms that true biblical structure is not intended to create control, but to promote unity, accountability, and effectiveness in ministry. Healthy structure allows the church to function in order while remaining sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.Rooted in Scripture and guided by the historic principles of Baptist congregational life, this work serves as a resource for pastors, church leaders, ministry students, and congregations seeking to strengthen their understanding of biblical church order and the shared responsibility of the body of Christ.Ultimately, the goal of this book is to help churches remain faithful to Christ, committed to sound doctrine, and equipped to minister restoration and hope to the communities they serve. The Biblical Structure of the Baptist Church is a deeply scriptural and practical guide to understanding how the local church is designed to function according to biblical principles and Baptist congregational theology.
This book explores the biblical foundation for church leadership, congregational authority, ministry departments, and the shared responsibility of believers to preserve unity, order, and spiritual power within the body of Christ.
Drawing from Scripture, historical Baptist practice, and pastoral experience, Pastor J.E.
