A visit to the Mission San Luis Rey in California in 2001 and subsequent research became the catalyst for Kite to write her first novel, My House of Dreams. The Mendel Experiment, and its sequels, Blue Fire, and Power Stone of Alogol, followed. Her most recent book, Realms of the Cat, a middle school fantasy was published in 2018.The author earned her Bachelor's degree in secondary English and followed that up with a Master's degree in Instructional Media at Utah State University. She worked in public school libraries for 35 years, most recently in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Now retired, Ms. Kite lives in Oklahoma City. Susan has been married to the love of her life, Daniel, for over 40 years. They have two children and seven grandchildren and are owned by an opinionated chiweenie-terrier.
