The Blockade; or, Episodes of the Siege of Phalsbourg. By Emile Erckmann and Alexander Chatrian and printed in London by Ward, Lock and Co. Circa 1870. 239 pp. 7 x 4.5. 12mo. Hardcover full leather. In fair condition, with superficial scuffing to boards and spine. Light bumping and rounding to corners. Cracking to front hinge. Text block remains bound well. Faded markings and inscriptions at front. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce novel and early edition from the French writing duo of Emile Erckmann (1822-1899) and Alexander Chatrian (1826-1890). Longtime collaborators, almost all of their works were written together.
