A propos de cet article

xv 138 pages, indexed, illustrated with coloured plates. A clean, unmarked and solid copy."Global warming, biodiversity loss, salinity. There is no doubt Australia's environmental problems appear huge and overwhelming. Not only is our unique natural heritage under threat, but the consequences for agriculture, tourism and the economy may be catastrophic. Can anything be done to halt the destruction? The good news is much can be done. In this powerful and passionate book, scientist David Lindenmayer argues that Australia does have the knowledge and resources to tackle our environmental problems. In addition, he outlines creative and impressive solutions that we can all be a part of. It's not too late yet." "Lindenmayer is a Professor of Ecology and Conservation Biology at the Australian National University's Fenner School of Environment and Society. He has published more than 800 peer-reviewed scientific papers and 46 books on a wide range of topics associated with forestry, woodlands, wildlife and biodiversity conservation, and ecologically sustainable natural resource management. He is among the world’s most highly cited forest ecologists and conservation biologists. His areas of expertise also include environmental management, forestry management and environment, terrestrial ecology, wildlife and habitat management, environmental monitoring, forestry fire management, natural resource management, zoology and forestry sciences, with a particular focus on the critically endangered Leadbeater's possum. His work on wildlife conservation and biodiversity has, for many years, led world research in this area.[4] Lindenmayer's conservation and biodiversity research has been recognised through numerous awards, including the Eureka Science Prize, and the Australian Natural History Medallion by the Field Naturalists Club of Victoria. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia "for distinguished service to conservation and the environment in the field of landscape ecology, to tertiary education, and to professional organisations".(Wikipedia). …

Description de la boutique

Good Reading was established in 1991. In early 2013, I downsized from a shop which spanned a block and two stories to a largish house which resembles a rabbit warren. There are at approximately 40,000 titles, including over 10,000 books in Italian, French, German, Modern Greek, Latin and classical Greek., most of which have not yet been catalogued. I also have a very large Theology section, and a substantial cookery and Australian History one. Please contact me if there is a specific title you are chasing as it may be languishing on the shelf uncatalogued. All enquiries will be answered promptly, books will be mailed out swaddled like Russian babies, and all faults honestly described. I do a full refund for any book sporting nasty surprises.…
