VAILLANT, Sébastien. Botanicon Parisiense. Editio nova emendatior & aucta. Paris, Briasson, 1743. In-12, [12]-131-[1] pp., veau granité du temps, dos lisse fleuronné, p. de titre, tr. rouges. Épidermures modérées avec qqs. p. mq. de cuir.
Seconde édition de cette célèbre flore parisienne, légèrement revue et augmentée sur l'originale de 1723, qui avait donné lieu en 1727 à un beau volume in-folio illustré. Sébastien Vaillant (1669-1722) fut probablement le botaniste français le plus éminent de son temps : attaché au Jardin royal des plantes, il comprit le premier qu'une classification juste des plantes devait s'établir sur la détermination de leur sexe.
