Matt began working in financial services as a junior member and corporate pilot in 1995 under the tutelage of two successful business/wealth managers who served as a resource to accounting firms in succession, executive benefits and asset protection-ultimately starting a franchise under their umbrella. He was subsequently acquired by a consulting firm, where he focused upon corporate succession strategies and institutional retirement consulting. After another acquisition, Matt joined Merrill Lynch in 2005 and worked with them (including managing an office location) until he formed the Harbour Wealth Management team of Raymond James in 2012. In 2021, he formed an independent RIA maintaining Raymond James as custodian, Harbour Wealth Management Group, Inc.He received his BS degree from Purdue University in Aeronautical Engineering, majoring in aviation economics. Matt is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER(TM) Certificant, a designation awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., a Certified Investment Management Analyst(r), a Chartered Life Underwriter(R), and a Chartered Financial Consultant(R). Matt is a member of the Investments and Wealth Institute, Financial Planning Association, Mt Pleasant Rotary Club and Mt Pleasant Presbyterian Church as well as a Chamber 'Leadership Charleston' graduate.Matt is Board member and past President/Treasurer of Charleston Jazz, on the Board of Advocates for Metanoia, helps lead his Church's praise band, and has been involved in many other charities such as Big Brothers (as a Big) and Junior Achievement. Matt has always had a passion for helping youth: while Chair of Charleston Jazz, he started the Jazz Academy, which has given music scholarships to hundreds of youth and impacted thousands of young students; he was a Big Brother for several years to a wonderful young man; he has taught karate at Metanoia's summer Freedom School for over 10 years to elementary school kids; he organized/recruited for Rotary Reader for several years helping hundreds of youth; been a Junior Achievement volunteer at numerous schools; coached (horribly) many youth teams; and regularly gives to many charities focused on youth education/empowerment.Matt lives in Mt Pleasant, SC with his beautiful wife Alissa and wonderful son Matthew.
