A propos de cet article

Complete in six volumes, this twenty-sixth edition of Burn's Justice of the Peace and Parish Officer, published in 1831 by S Sweet of Chancery Lane, Corrected, Greatly enlarged and containing a new set of precedents. . All six volumes are in matching full leather bindings with raised bands and red and black leather labels on the spines. 6 x 8.745 inches. A good solid and sound set. Externally the bindings of all six volumes are sound with sound inner and outer hinges, with no loose or detached boards, there is variously rubbing, scuffs and occasional areas of superficial damage to the leather, some bent and rubbed corners and a few small insect tracks, but all fairly minor. Internally all complete and in good order. Inner hinges in good condition with no splitting endpapers. A little damp marking to endpapers, and volume 2 has a little damp damage to the margin of the last few pages. Otherwise all very clean throughout with no foxing, no marking or annotations. Some browning and a little spotting to page edges. Burn (1709 1785) was an english legal writer. Justice of the Peace and the Parish Officer was first published in 1755 and was for many years the standard authority on the law relating to justices of the peace. It has passed through some 30 editions, half of which appeared after burn's death. Corrected and greatly enlarged, and with many new titles; and containing a new collection of precedents. The titles excise and customs, poor, and taxes, are by j. Chitty. The rest of the work is by thomas chitty of the inner temple. The chittys, who were father and son, were english lawyers and between them authored some of the earliest practitioners' texts and played a significant role in documenting the legal reforms of the nineteenth century. These volumes cover the legality of seemingly every aspect of life, outlining the law on everything from oysters and tea to hawking and the post office. Complete here in a six volume set. 26th edition.…
