A lovely "Collectors Copy" of the First Edition in an unclipped 7/6d dustwrapper over unblemished pictorial cloth. The second volume in the series which documents his journey down the Nile river, from the Sudan to Egypt. The author used a collapsible two-seater canvas and rubber canoe manufactured by the German firm Hart, which he named "Canoe Errant". A British Army Major, engineer, intelligence agent, linguist, and author he was also an Esperantist and used a network of Esperanto "canoe consuls" to gain information on rivers and stations.
