EARLY EDITION circa 1831-1837, 175 x 105 mm, 6¾ x 4¼ inches, yellow printed stiff card covers, vignette to lower cover of boy with stick inside wreath of vine leaves, publisher's adverts inside lower cover, titles numbered 1-60. Hand coloured frontispiece, 16 attractive half-page hand-coloured illustrations, 8-line verse below each, printed 1 side only. Spine worn and partly oversewn, corners worn and rounded, blotchy pale brown staining all over covers, pale inscription to upper cover dated 1837, stitching a little slack, 2 old inscriptions on verso frontispiece. Margins slightly fingered, contents generally nice. Acceptable copy of early juvenile. Moon 142 (5), first published by John Harris in this format in 1820.
