15x 8cm, [6"x 3.25"], matted & laid-down on card, With A.L.S. Mounted on verso. The photograph is signed in gilt, "J. Palmer Clarke, Cambridge".(cgc.bx). Robert Bell(1841-1917) served in various prominent positions with the Geological Survey of Canada for over 50 years and when the photograph was taken was the Acting Director, a position he held from 1901 to 1906. On the verso of the photograph is a letter signed by Robert Bell (136 McLaren Street, 4th Nov. '07) to Henry Morgan: Dear Dr. Morgan, This is a Cambridge (England) photo which you said you would like to have with my comp'ts. (Signed) R. Bell. Dr. Henry Morgan (1842-1913) was a prominent Canadian civil servant best remembered for his biographical studies.
