Original publisher's brown wrapper with staple binding. 6 7/8" x 10 1/4." Twenty-four unnumbered pages, complete. Black and white illustrations, complete. Illustrated advertisements, most of which relate to music, are on the inside of both covers. A few ads are on the interior pages. Blue stamp of the California State Library in upper-right corner of the front cover. Former ownership sticker on front cover. Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Slight wrinkling to the covers. Among the businesses and products advertised are Byron Mauzy, The American Clothing Association, Benj. Curtaz & Son, Conover Pianos, F. W. Spencer & Co., Overland Monthly, Joe Poheim, Kohler & Chase, and Sherman, Clay & Co. The California Musical Journal was founded in 1895. It contains a variety of topics, such as news of the latest and upcoming events, news about musicians, and music theory. The following are some of the articles and features in this issue: "The Editor's Summer Tour," "A Few Practical Harmony Lessons," laid-in supplement with sheet music for "Air for Guitar" featuring blue and purple stylized printing and font, "New Music," "William Piutti," "Local Items," "Pacific Coast Notes" [news from California towns], "Hints to Young Violinists," "The Ruination of Voices," "Eastern Items: Music Teachers' National Association at Denver," "Foreign Items," sheet music for "Transcription uber das Lieb: Ich Hab' Dich Lieb," "The Metronome," "Oakland Branch," "Correspondence," "Concerts," "Theatrical," and "Professional Directory.".
