This work explores traumatic brain injury from the perspective of long-term continuing health and social care provision within the current requirements of community care. It takes into account the development of care in the community and the responsibility of local authorities to assess and provide for long-term care needs. The book uses autobiographical accounts of TBI individuals and institutional case studies to trace "careers of care". It explores the merits of residential care and provides recommendations for future progress as well as putting forward an approach to care which can be transfered to other "outsider group" - such as those who do not fit into the major social care client groups.
