Catalogue 31, The Renaissance in France; 183 x 240mm; pp 86 offering 296 items relating to the Renaissance in France, from about 1490 through to 1600 and with areas covered including the origins and early renaissance period, the later humanists, editions of mediaeval texts, book illustrations and bookbinding, philosophy, religion and law, astronomy, mathematics and other sciences, medicine, education and universities, the theatre, Rabelais and his followers, and bibliographical works. Fawn card covers now much dust marked and with old splashes of some liquid; internally firm and clean though also with rusted staples; overall still a good copy. . . . . . Catalogue 58: Printed Books of the XVth to the XVIIIth Century many illustrated with Woodcuts or Engravings; On a Variety of Subjects - Gardens, Architecture, Mathematics, Navigation, Geography, History, and Philosophy; 184 x 240mm; pp 70, listing 178 items; off-white card covers; top and particularly bottom of the spine gnawed, some general markings on the covers and the last half dozen or so pages water stained at part of the bottom edge, internally otherwise clean and tight and despite these issues, still a copy in reasonable condition. …
