Paperback. Etat : new. Paperback. A young girl's first time fishing and it couldn't get any better. Marley spends the afternoon with her Dad fishing at a lake which is near the campgrounds that her family is staying at. They encounter Deer, quail, squirrels and many other wild animals along their journey to a magical spot by the water. There were duck's and geese that were starting to fly in and out of the area. This was all very exciting to Marley hiking in the forest with her Dad carrying all this fishing gear, she was on a mission that's for sure. Marley is not quite sure what to expect because she has never been fishing before but regardless of what happens she told herself that she would have fun and that she did. Do you remember the time when you caught your very first fish? That feeling of power. When Marley and her Dad set out to go fishing Marley had no idea what to expect. It started early in the morning by the campfire with her Dad making coffee. They started down the trail leaving Marley's Mom and two brothers back at camp sleeping. It didn't take long before they start to see wildlife, lots of deer and quail running about. Ducks and geese flying in and out of the trees. Then they get to this beautiful lake. Marley was amazed how perfect everything looked, as if nothing has ever disturbed this area. After learning about hooks, line and bait it is time to start fishing. This is a tradition that Fathers hand down to their children and it could not have gone any better. A happy ending for all. This item is printed on demand. Paperback. Etat : new. Philomena O'Neill (illustrateur). Paperback. Knowing how to fold a paper airplane can make you a better parent!Well, maybe not better, but you'll certainly have more fun with your children, who understandably assume that you know how to do just about everything. This book contains clear, simple, step-by-step instructions for teaching more than twenty little life skills that every child should know, including how to-. Work a yo-yo. Build a fire. Eat with chopsticks. Skip a stone. Fly a homemade kite. Throw a FrisbeeWhile you teach your children, you get to learn the skills too, or at the very least improve on them. Activities range from practical, like locating the constellations, to completely frivolous fun, like turning a blade of grass into a musical instrument. Some are simple enough for four-year-olds, and others will appeal to the most jaded adolescent. Each skill is illustrated and is rounded out with fascinating trivia (did you know that the world's largest sand castle measured six stories high?) or funny jokes. Age-appropriate information is given for each skill, but they all have one thing in common- You and your kids can do them together! A renowned family physician, YA author, and father of two offers this guide to 21 classic skills that parents can teach their children--from lighting a campfire to riding a bike to folding a paper airplane. Includes illustrations, anecdotes, and trivia and jokes related to each subject. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability. Paperback. Etat : new. Paperback. "How Long Does it Take to Catch a Fish?" is a collection of stories about fathers and sons and sons and fathers. It explores how dads and their male offspring can be understood as two sides of the same coin - unique yet intertwined, shaping one another across generations. It is a personal journey, documenting boyish indulgences and grown-up anxieties. How long does it take to catch a fish? How do we learn to appreciate and guide the people that are important in our lives? I do not presume to offer answers - only thoughtful observations. These remembrances of adventures with my adolescent son, sometimes ordinary, sometimes poignant, serve as guideposts in my own coming to terms with the loss of my father. It was a story I needed to write to understand, as much as to share. The stories will appeal across a broad spectrum of readers, each with their own compelling interest in the evolving relationship between a father and his son. Dad's can identify in the humor and uncertainty voiced in an armchair quarterback's critique of how I raised my son. Mom's will appreciate the reflections at the end of each tale for their insight into the mysterious domain of the male psyche. Sons - well my son hates it when I tell him how he feels so you will have to ask one you know for their opinion! This item is printed on demand.
