NOTE: The identification of Sprange's and Clifford's Tunbridge Wells Guides from 1780 onwards is difficult. This is mainly due to the practices of publishers reissuing and mixing material at later dates rather than formulate a brand new text block and therefore edition. Thankfully R.J Goulden in his Kent Town Guides of 1995, has assisted us in the unravelling of most issue points, and we can identify probable publication dates for Guides with old and new material. This edition conforms entirely to Goulden 68, Eighth edition: Based on work by J. Sprange. - p. [4], viii, [2], 196 [ 2]p; two folding maps, table and eleven plates. With final advertisement leaf. Original brown covers, with cover label present and complete, with similar to spine { see images to follow }, faded spine and covers with some fade also. Secure and tightly bound copy, clean internally. NB: both the Preface and Advertisement are dated May 1843. The Vignette to title page is Toad Rock Tunbridge Wells. { Subject: Tunbridge Wells.
