Palmer, E.P. Walton & Son, Montpelier, 1836, 304 pp plus table of contents, original blue linen cloth, 7.5 x 4.75 , 12mo. In good condition. Light wear to extremists with scuffing to corners and end bands. Cloth modestly soiled with minor staining and ink splotches. Fading to spine and edges of boards. Original paper spine label. An instance of worming to inner hinge at center. End papers have 46 in old hand with a few other previous bookseller notations. Text is moderately toned with age-staining and foxing. Foxing heavy at times. 265-268 pp are detached from binding, but remain placed inside. Their edges are frayed. Second rear fly leaf is torn at corner. Free of known markings. Binding remains intact. Universalist minister and publisher Hosea Ballou (1771-1852) preached at Barnard, Vermont and surrounding towns in 1801-1807; at Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1807-1815; at Salem, Massachusetts in 1815-1817; and served as pastor of the Second Universalist Church in Boston, from 1817 to his death.
